BOSTON — Aaron Packard’s August campaign filing looks more like a road trip log than a run for governor.
He raised $0 in donations, spent $101.27 at gas stations and a liquor store, and ended the month with just $1.36 left in the bank. That’s not a campaign — that’s an empty tank.

Packard is a veteran and deserves credit for his service, but the reality is his bid is running on fumes. The paperwork reads like pit stops and beer runs, not the foundation of a serious statewide operation.
Meanwhile, Mike Kennealy closed August with nearly $1 million in cash on hand, and Brian Shortsleeve banked more than half a million. Their showdown is shaping up as a heavyweight fight. Packard, by comparison, is stalling out on the side of the road — a $1.36 campaign with nothing left in the tank.
Until Packard shows he can raise more than gas money, his candidacy is less politics and more pit stop comedy.
