WESTBOROUGH — A routine Sunday drive on the Mass Pike exploded into chaos when gunfire ripped through a car in a suspected road rage meltdown.

Troopers say the victim, shaken but alive, called for help around 7:15 p.m. after another driver allegedly pulled a gun and opened fire on Interstate 90, leaving a bullet hole punched clean through their vehicle.

The terrified motorist bolted off the highway into the Westborough Service Plaza, where State Police rushed to meet them. Miraculously, no one was hurt — but the evidence tells the story. The vehicle, now in State Police custody, has been hauled off for a full crime scene and ballistics workup.
