BOSTON — A Cambridge woman is dead after a Buick driven by an illegal in Maine jumped a curb and mowed her down. Now comes the kicker: the passenger sitting next to him — the one who was supposed to be the “licensed driver” — was also an illegal.
Elizabeth Camacho, 48, was walking near Kennedy Park in Lewiston on Friday when the Buick suddenly mounted the curb on Park Street, plowing into her. She was rushed to a local hospital and then airlifted to Portland, but she didn’t survive.
The Maine Wire first reported that the driver was Lionel Francisco, 31, an illegal immigrant from Angola driving on a learner’s permit. ICE quickly took him into custody.
Passenger was illegal too
Now investigators say his passenger — Wilson Antonio Pedro, 34, also from Angola — was in the country illegally as well. He has also been taken into ICE custody and is locked up at the Strafford County Jail in New Hampshire.
Here’s the scandal: Pedro actually had a Maine driver’s license. That’s right — the “licensed driver” required to supervise a learner’s permit holder was himself an illegal immigrant. The same bureaucracy that shrugs off border law handed him an official license, no questions asked.
Sanctuary madness with blood on its hands
This tragedy shines a spotlight on the absurdity of America’s immigration mess. In Boston, Mayor Michelle Wu has turned the city into a sanctuary, defying ICE at every turn. Gov. Maura Healey has spent millions housing illegals in hotels while telling taxpayers to stop complaining.
And now? A Cambridge woman is dead at the hands of not one, but two illegals.
The driver was never licensed. The passenger had a license he never should have had. And thanks to weak laws and progressive politics, the end result is a Massachusetts family burying their daughter.
A preventable death
Lewiston police say both men “cooperated.” That’s small comfort to the family of Elizabeth Camacho. Cooperation doesn’t erase the fact she was killed because the system bends over backward for illegals while putting citizens last.
Boston politicians love to talk about “inclusion.” But the only thing being included in this story is another preventable death.
Elizabeth Camacho, 48, paid the ultimate price for policies designed to protect illegals first, Americans last.
