Police say the victim, a man in his fifties, was knifed multiple times after a heated argument spiraled out of control just after noon. Shoppers expecting to leave with milk and eggs instead saw blood spill onto the pavement as officers swarmed the scene.
The stabbing happened on store property, though investigators aren’t sure whether the violence began inside the aisles or in the parking lot.
The victim was rushed to a Boston hospital where he is now in stable condition.
“Preliminary information indicates that this incident stemmed from a verbal altercation between the suspect and the victim on store property,” a Boston Police spokesperson said.
The suspect bolted after the attack and remains on the run. Despite the chaos, police insist there is “no ongoing danger to the public.”
The daylight stabbing has left Dorchester rattled and serves as yet another reminder of how quickly violence can erupt in the most ordinary places.
