BOSTON — A convicted killer from Brazil — wanted internationally and living illegally in the U.S. — has been arrested right here in Boston.
ICE agents nabbed Anderson Borges-De Jesus, a foreign fugitive who was convicted of Qualified Homicide and had been hiding out in Massachusetts despite being flagged by Interpol with a Red Notice — the international equivalent of a most-wanted alert.

Borges-De Jesus was taken into custody by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston team, according to a public statement released by the agency.
“He is a foreign fugitive wanted to serve a sentence for homicide,” ICE confirmed, adding that he’s now facing imminent removal proceedings.
The arrest comes amid growing frustration from residents and law enforcement alike over the state’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” sanctuary-style policies, which critics say have turned Massachusetts into a magnet for criminal aliens evading justice abroad.
ICE did not say how long Borges-De Jesus had been living in Boston, or whether he had any additional criminal charges in the U.S. But one thing is clear: this wasn’t his first run-in with the law.
In the arrest photo released by ICE, Borges-De Jesus is seen shirtless, handcuffed, and flanked by federal officers — a stark image of a man who slipped through the cracks until federal agents stepped in.
Massachusetts has made headlines in recent years for resisting ICE detainer requests and pushing progressive immigration policies that limit local cooperation with federal authorities. But cases like this — involving international fugitives — underscore the high stakes of those decisions.
Borges-De Jesus now awaits deportation, but ICE’s ability to remove him could depend on bureaucratic cooperation — both domestic and international.
As of now, the convicted killer remains in federal custody.
