BOSTON — A Quincy man is facing attempted murder charges after allegedly opening fire on a pregnant woman and her boyfriend during a shocking road rage incident on one of Boston’s busiest highways.
The shooting happened on July 1 during peak traffic hours on Route 93 northbound. According to Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden, the victims — a woman who was five months pregnant and her boyfriend — were driving through Boston when a red Ford F-350 pickup truck began operating aggressively and nearly collided with their vehicle.

The woman honked her horn. That’s when, prosecutors say, the driver of the truck abruptly stopped, got out, and fired a gun directly at them — in broad daylight, on a packed expressway. He then allegedly got back in his vehicle and drove off.
The victims managed to capture cell phone video of the incident, including a clear shot of a rear window decal reading “Alltown Construction.” Massachusetts State Police were able to trace the plate to a Quincy-based company — and ultimately to 33-year-old Michael Bragel.
Police say the victims later identified Bragel as the shooter. A warrant was issued for his arrest on July 14.
Bragel was arraigned in South Boston District Court on multiple charges, including:
- Two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon (firearm)
- Two counts of assault to murder
- Two counts of assault and battery attempt with a firearm
- Illegal possession of ammunition
- Carrying a firearm without a license
District Attorney Hayden called the shooting “extraordinarily reckless,” adding that it endangered “both of these victims and every other motorist in the area.”
No injuries were reported, and authorities have not confirmed whether the firearm has been recovered.
As usual, there has been no comment from Boston City Hall — where Mayor Michelle Wu continues to insist Boston is the “safest major city in America,” even as pregnant women are reportedly being shot at in traffic.
Bragel is due back in court on August 28.
